Renewed solidarity with the "family in the woods"
Marco Mandrino

It seems incredible to me that all this is “allowed”, and I am deeply saddened by the frustration and distress this family is going through.
I want to make it clear that, going purely by instinct, I share little of this family's values. I don't even warm to them on a gut level, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't do everything possible to defend their rights, which should be the rights of everyone.
Only the worst communist regimes made acceptable the idea of “indoctrinating” the young, in order to create what they imagine to be the perfect society.
Every family, every community, should be able to educate its children in the ways and according to the values that are its own. A non-Marxist State should not dare to take children away from a family, unless there are genuine cases of violence. The State should not set itself up as judge of what is right or wrong in the education of children, which remains the parents' choice.
To those who disagree, I would point out that the new generations, indoctrinated by the idea of the “schoolmarm State” that governs the European Union, sadly do not seem to excel in awareness and autonomy. Might a different idea of education not do quite so much harm?
