Flowers Must Be Protected
Marco Mandrino

This heavy-handed and wicked stepmother called the State demands absolute obedience. The poor former “family in the woods”, besides having had to bow to absurd compromises to get their children back, has now been denied by the State, represented in this case by the judges, the possibility of being reunited.
The appalling phrases I have had to read to justify this travesty were along the lines of “too rigid and dependent on their own lifestyle”. Because obviously, in a world that some “monsters” consider the freest ever, you cannot choose a lifestyle; you must follow the one that is imposed.
Or “The parents' re-education is still unsatisfactory”, or “They do not give up their values”, and one could go on with such phrases, which should make the blood boil in anyone who still has any.
My battle is not because the so-called “family in the woods” is particularly likeable to me, but because it is our duty to be outraged by a State that wants to destroy a family (today theirs, tomorrow yours) and claims to want to educate (it would be more accurate to say “enslave”) and mould the youngest to its sick and crumbling values.
Everyone's freedom is a delicate flower that must be protected, and we must fight for it. Don't wait until it's your turn: a family's freedom to choose how to live its own life is your battle too, and ours.
