Those who think differently still want the Good

Marco Mandrino

Before Christmas, a post from a genuinely, unforced “good” person.

These lines are a reminder for everyone, myself included.

Those who think differently are not enemies but, more often than not, people with a family, feelings, loves, sorrows and joys, just like you.

Just like you, they are seeking good and light for those who live near them. “Thinking differently” means believing we can reach that “good” simply by following different recipes.

So it would be best not to insult for no reason, and to wish harm on no one, but always and in any case to wish them well. Not out of do-gooding, but out of healthy selfishness: life is better when you are surrounded by people who are doing well.

Does this mean not fighting for what you believe in and always turning the other cheek? Absolutely not. It means fighting, even hard, and sometimes not only with words, but without any hatred.

As an exercise, and for Your Own Good, this Christmas try to create a kindly thought towards the people who think differently from you, wishing them the best life possible. From the next day you can go back to fighting them, but knowing that they are beings like you and, sometimes unknowingly, they too want the good of everyone.

Merry Christmas to all, and see you around. (We will be open from the evening of Friday 26 December!)
