Art beyond the boundaries of ignorance

Marco Mandrino

In recent editions the Venice Biennale has distinguished itself by putting rubbish and the mental self-indulgence of troubled figures on "fine display", trying to convince the public that such abominations were art.

Let me remind everyone that art should be Beauty.

This year it seems there is a breath of fresh air, and Pietrangelo Buttafoco, the director, has even planned a dedicated space for Pavel Florenskij, one of the greatest Russian philosophers, scientists and mystics, who died a martyr in a detention camp.

As far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest men of the modern era, beyond any nationality or side-taking.

Buttafoco's greatest sin, however, is to have given Russia back the pavilion and the space it has always had, even when it was the USSR.

This underlines how art, just as should be the case for sport, is something that goes beyond hatred, wars and political interests.

Naturally, the dogs have already been unleashed, and the horrid EU even wants, out of spite, to cut the funding earmarked for the Biennale.
