She Spread Sorrow

Alice Kundalini is passionate about anything that is, in some way, out of the ordinary: music, film, art. She is an electronic musician and a lover of non-conformist genres such as industrial, noise, power electronics and experimental electronics. Working with synthesisers, samplers, pedals, effects and voice, she began her journey in this field in 2005, and it culminated in 2014 with the birth of her current solo project, She Spread Sorrow, released on the historic English label Cold Spring Records.

Her dark sounds, at times noisy and distorted, at times dreamlike and expansive, accompany the use of her voice, which, through whispers, tells stories of female protagonists who lose themselves in abstract dimensions, between dream and nightmare, between madness and lucidity, with settings that are sometimes unsettling but always deeply emotional and communicative. She has taken her live shows to many European countries and has taken part in several international festivals, such as United Forces of Industrial in London, She Makes Noise in Madrid and Brutal Assault in Jaroměř in the Czech Republic. She continues to cultivate her passion for art and for everything that does not conform, in the firm belief that the uniqueness of the individual is a value to be protected and that the freedom to create and express oneself must be constantly nurtured throughout one's life.

Besides music, the other sacred fires in her life are philosophy, which she studies at the University of Genoa, and yoga, which she studies at the Hari-Om school and practises as part of a constant path of inner exploration. The stage name Kundalini is a tribute to Alberto Maria Kundalini, lead voice of the Italian power electronics project Teatro Satanico, as well as to the true meaning of the word in the yogic tradition, and it brings together the different facets of her passions.
