Summer reading
Marco Mandrino

Valerio, whom I consider a friend, concludes his trilogy with "il Re del Bosco". What strikes me about Valerio is his ability to make his characters feel alive and real, even though his books are steeped in magic and mythology.
In a world now devoured by the Nothing and by nihilism, Valerio represents the light of certainty that even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise again, and that the darkness of night is no valid excuse for giving in to fear and laxity.
The author, together with Andrea Anselmo, who wrote the afterword to the same book, will join me for a public conversation on Friday 17 July at 7 pm. Read the book, and then we can have a pleasant chat about it together.
